The 9-1-1 emergency call centre of Ville de Laval serves as front door for all the emergency calls on its territory. It has for mission to receive the calls where an intervention of emergency services is required and to dispatch the call to the primary or secondary interveners, according to the nature and the priority of the call. The primary or secondary respondent can be: the policemen, the firefighters, the ambulance, Hydro-Québec, the coast guard or other public services. Every citizen who dials 9-1-1 has to answer some questions in order to help the attendant establish the exact nature of the emergency and send to the scene the appropriate people.
